2.4 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and
the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document,
however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been
obtained.
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Qualification. The grease furnished under this specification shall be a product that is
authorized by the qualifying activity for listing on the applicable qualified products list before
contract award (see 4.3 and 6.3). Any change in the formulation of a qualified product shall
require requalification of that product.
3.2 Material. The grease shall consist of a gelling agent, a diester base oil, and an
extreme-pressure additive, and any other chemical addition agent required to meet the
requirements of this specification (see 6.7).
3.2.1 Toxicity. The grease furnished under this specification shall have no adverse effect on
the health of personnel when used for its intended purpose (see 6.2).
3.3 Physical properties. Physical properties of the grease shall be in accordance with
table I.
