PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION
HYDRAULIC FLUID, RUST INHIBITED, FIRE RESISTANT, SYNTHETIC
HYDROCARBON BASE, NATO CODE NO. H-544
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the
Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for one type of synthetic
hydrocarbon base hydraulic fluid (see 6.1) for use in the -40C to 200C temperature range in
recoil mechanisms and ground vehicle and equipment hydraulic systems. This hydraulic fluid
will not be used for aircraft systems, aircraft ground support equipment, or the preservation of
aircraft components.
1.2 Type. The type of hydraulic fluid is as follows:
Type I - Undyed and Identified by Military Symbol FRH and NATO Code No. H-544.
